Submit your screenshot for the SOTM of December 2021

Postby Anarcho-pilot » Mon Nov 29, 2021 5:15 pm

Hello everyone!

Now's your chance to submit your candidate for December's FlightGear SOTM contest!

Participation Rules
1. 20 entries (because a poll can only have 20 options).
2. Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
3. You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
4. If you submit a screenshot of another person, please make sure he/she grants you the right to publish it under the correct license.
5. Please convert your picture from PNG into JPEG (plenty of converters online).
6. Must be taken with FlightGear.
7. Every picture should have a caption. It would be useful to add the name of the aircraft and the location, where the screenshot was taken, to the caption. (For example: "Greeting the dawn - C172P, Keflavik".) Otherwise, please, mention it at least in your entry.
8. Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim filters). You may also add titles mentioning an author of the screenshot and/or aircraft/location displayed on it.
9. You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
10. You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.
11. You agree that the screenshot may be used to promote the FlightGear project, including publication on the flightsim.com forum with proper attribution according to the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.

Here is a Wiki article with some advice on making nice screenshots: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Make_nice_screenshots .

Voting will start when 20 entries are reached or at the latest on December 21st, in a separate topic.

Best wishes - Anarcho-pilot.

That's something new. Never seen buildings with interior in FG before. My respect to the author of the model.

Is it available from FG-scenery website (https://scenery.flightgear.org ) and distributed via TerraSync? Or it's from some custom scenery?

Get my custom FG liveries here: https://flightgearhusky.altervista.org/

I'm off at college so I've stopped making liveries (for the time being, at least), but I'm continuing to ensure compatibility for the ones I've already published.

For anyone reading this thread later and wondering, it's the really nice MDPP airport that was released a few days ago  . Scenery releases are usually announced in the scenery forum. Thread for this: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39179

(For anyone using the Git version of FGData , the SharedModels.tgz file (official link broken right now), or the data/Scenery folder from a release build of FG is needed to view the ground clutter on the apron).

Kind regards
vnts

Sun pillar in Norway:

Was testing my Cessna 210 in northern Norway and by chance saw this very rare natural phenomenon. Hat off for creating such a bombastic, beautiful, fantastic, … flight simulator. I don't think you would ever see such a thing in X-Plane or MSFS. I'm simply overwhelmed and fascinated. Thank you very much.

There you go - I updated my post with a JPEG. Why can't it be PNG, by the way ?

Main reason is the bigger file size of png compared to jpg. When you have multiple hi-res png-images on one page, loading can take quite long with a slow internet connection....
A mile of road will take you a mile, but a mile of runway will take you everywhere.
