AN-225 + BURAN

Postby Toanphuc » Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:25 pm

I am working on a an AN-225 carry a Buran Space Shuttle.Because of lack of some skill so i will need a lot support.I have found some 3d model about the Buran, but it quite large in size and is not fit well with FG so someone can help me by optimize it i get it into FG.So we will need to paint it.Next thing is to change the Yasim of the AN-225 to make it feel like it carry a whale on it wing. Also if you could, the An-225 don't have a panel so there a lot of work to do with that.If you want to have the aircraft model or buran model contact me: nguyentritoanphuc -at- yahoo -dot com

A good flight sim is not to make people feel fly easier but to make them feel fly is as real as it get.

I could write the FDM for this. You see, the way YASim works, you can't really make it so that there is a toggleable fuselage object or wing object (in flight). Our best bet is to create a separate aircraft bundled with the An-225 that includes the FDM and model with the spacecraft on it.

Now, here's what is needed for the FDM.
-The weight of the Buran (to be added to the total mass)
-And the An-225 with the Buran model on it. (to position the wing and fuselage objects of the Buran)

This is actually a cool idea for an aircraft project.

Let's see here...

An-225:

Empty weight = 285,000 kg (628,315 lb)
Max. takeoff weight = 640,000 kg (1,323,000 lb)
Payload = 250,000 kg (550,000 lb)
(Obviously this does not include crew  )

Buran:

Mass of Total Structure / Landing Systems: 42,000 kg (92,400 lbs)
Mass of Functional Systems and Propulsion: 33,000 kg (72,600 lbs)
Max. payload = 30,000 kg (66000 lbs)
Max. liftoff weight = 105,000 kg (231,000 lbs)
(Also not including crew  )

Just add those numbers together and you should get the total weight of the An-225 carrying the Buran, without the crew's weight included :)

All right, here's what I've done so far with the FDM...

You can see the space shuttle like object on the top of it. I'm debating over whether I should modify the fuselage to be more than one piece or just leave it like that (for the main thing). Otherwise, the only thing we need is a model...

I'll probably carry over some of my improvements to the older YASim for the regular An-225 without the Buran, as I did a bunch, like the engine nacelles.

Glad to see someone interest with my idea.Nickyivyca's Yasim model is look good but you should pay attention that the Buran have it own nozzles so we should ballast some weight at the end of buran.About the model there is no problem with the Lee Elliott's An-225 but if you are looking for the Buran here is your link: http://www.buran.ru/htm/3d-model.htm It in Russia but you could use google translate. One thing to mention is the model in this site are mostly in BCAD but there is smoe 3ds max model too,if you can't import it just tell me and i could export it into OBJ,3DS or blender file.

Is the model GPL compatible? This is so we could make the whole set releaseable on the main FG website.
