Space Shuttle Video - Transoceanic Abort Landing full video

Postby GinGin » Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:42 pm

An exhaustive video about TAL with a failure and original voices

Hope you like it, it took me a bit of time like the RTLS one.
I had great fun doing that one. We have a really realistic Shuttle on many aspects !

Ahh GinGin, you make me smile! That is so cool. I'm grinning ear to ear when watching your videos. Keep them coming, they are so appreciated.
Air data probe's deployed, such a small detail, but for me a highlight.
Thank you!

I am still totally annoyed by the CWS graphics. So I finally got around to coming up with a fix for it. I placed a black backing plate behind the individual CWS elements and it seems to have worked to obscure the visualization of the different sizes of CWS lights. I'll push it this week sometime. Does anyone know if there is a master caution and warning test that will light all the warning lights automatically. I don't remember one but I may have just forgotten about it. If not I think I can programmatically make that happen easy enough.

Once I push it maybe you all can test some different lighting conditions to confirm it works during all lighting conditions.

There is, and you implemented it already

Oh that's bad, you know I am getting up there in age, right? Most days, I can still spell my name though. :)

GinGin, how old is the graphics, or maybe I should say the aircraft version your using for this last video? After checking the blend in both the dev ac, the master blend and the current release, I already came up with what I thought was the simpler solution for the CWS lights looking so bad. But I never thoroughly tested it in different lighting conditions. Are you possibly still using a version before that change? Or is it still just bad graphics I need to fix some other way?

GinGin, never mind the questions. I think it's nothing more than the lightmaps. I should be able to go into the appropriate maps and edit that portion of it to remove the shadowing. Sorry for all the fuss.

@Wayne, glad you can till spell your name :)

And, in case you've forgotten, your graphic work for the Space Shuttle just *rocks*, so, from my side, I would say don't bother with the lighting of the CWS :D

However, I kind of remember, in some post, some "very little" improvement about the 3D model of ISS that has not yet landed on the dev branch, am I right???? :P

For the ones who missed it, look at the baby!!!

Uh, hu! I actually modeled the ceiling to the mid-deck in the shuttle yesterday. See, we can't doc to the station without a working mid-deck and hatch, right? Thorsten modeled the 2 stage slider for the basic/detailed mesh. I figure changing it into a three stage slider for basic/detailed/mid-deck would be appropriate.
So, yeah, still on my agenda.

Ps, a little nudge never hurts. :)

Fantastic video, Gin Gin! While I frequent the FlightGear Forums quite a bit, I was reading some posts on the MSFS Forums tonight. Someone is wondering if Asobo or other developers will develop a realistic Shuttle simulator add-on. I told them about FlightGear and its Shuttle and added links to the FlightGear Shuttle Wiki and to a couple of your videos. Your videos really make it spectacular! And thank you, Thorsten, for developing the Shuttle! I'm looking forward to some day getting a graphics card that will enable me to use it as it can be!
