Space Shuttle Video - Return to Launch site full video

Postby GinGin » Wed Oct 16, 2019 5:24 pm

Hello,

A quite exhaustive video about Return to Launch Site with a failure and original voices ( and Batman music xD )

Hope you like it, it took me a bit of time, really entertaining to learn new stuff

I see a movie on the horizon, Shuttle 13 (13:57)!

Really nice, thank you!

Actually, outstanding!

Gripping and riveting, a real nail bitter.

More, more! You just cost me 13:57 on other projects!

MAN!! you're crazy!!!! This is super nice!!!

In addition to chill me out, you almost made my cry... ;)

By the way, how do you manage to get these 2 views, cockpit and outside at the same time, is that some replay with a saved tape?

Cheers,
Chris.

Very nice.

Please stop using copyrighted music though. It's not the right thing to do.

Why ? I don’t put money on it .

Thanks for the comments .
@EatDirt: I recorded several times during several sessions to get internal / external etc.
Don’t know if there is a replay . That might be handier :)

Well, unless you have permission, it's still not okay even if you don't make money (neither is it necessarily harmless) - the company might want to sell the soundtrack, but if it is found in YT videos, people can listen to it for free (and ignore the video content) - so they can plausibly argue that you do hurt their chances to market the music.

There's sources like

www.freemusicarchive.org

where you can obtain music that's licensed for that kind of thing.

Thanks for the link, I see.

Youtube has now the Content ID robot that detects the song(s) in videos and warns the company(ies) that own the copyright of a song.
Most of them are authorised on youtube, under license ( so with permission) and take benefits from ads, etc

Great GinGin! I hope it's the first of many. Consider basic tutorials (Ascent, Entry, etc.) as well

As i posted on the Youtube channel chatlist, awesome effort Gin Gin.

As mildly requested above, would be nice if you continue your effort on trying to put down some other videos relating to nominal procedures, Proximity operations, phasing, and my most
dreaded, god knows how I hate that one, the GPC reconfiguration. OPS 0. I'd love if you try to pile up some stuff regarding GPC config and upload tut in ytube.

Anyway, very nice work indeed.

Do You have the FG general graphics bar slided out to the MAX or just falling into the most conservative one, due to PC limitations?

Thanks Gomendio.

Indeed, video on GPC might a good idea.

For rendez vous, Thorsten is updating the manual for next stable release.
You can find really useful info there:

http://www.science-and-fiction.org/bookstore.html

I am working on rendez vous wiki

For GPC, you can have a look there

http://wiki.flightgear.org/Flying_the_Shuttle_-_Launch_And_Post_Insertion_Advanced#Post_Insertion:_Advanced_GPC_reconfiguration

For rendez vous, you can get a hand on it with Orbiter ( in spherical gravity first )
The complicated thing with the shuttle is the propellant available, phasing and rdv need to be think in advance etc to no waste delta velocities
Some tutorials are really helpfull for FG

A video of phasing might be really... boring.

For the most part, it's a waiting game - nothing much happens, you just orbit till you reach your apogee again when you decide to do a short burn, then you orbit some more.

Spaceflight really is lots of waiting.

For rendez vous, you can get a hand on it with Orbiter ( in spherical gravity first )

Or you just play it through with LEO targeting - it's a bit more abstract, but it tells you within a few seconds what happens, so you can quickly go through all kinds of scenarios.
