Vostok-1

Postby vitos » Mon Apr 11, 2011 9:27 pm

Update: "Vostok-1" project is frozen due to absence of interest of other developers and users.

On current terrain engine it hangs too often and on flight altitude shows not Earth but blue fog. Will like to continue project but only after will get some help on means of terrain engine improvement. Please write to me if You'll decide to help.

Slavutinsky Victor, vitosnet@mail.ru

Right now confirmed cosmonauts list is so:

1) Me myself, some suborbital and orbital flights from February of 2011.
2) MyName, suborbital flight South America...Africa in the beginning of May of 2011.
3) Thorsten, suborbital 10000km flight 19.05.2011
4) Jorge Sanchez, suborbital and orbital flights, October 2011
5) Raazeer, suborbital flight, October 2011

I wish that could be true here, it's not so with current engine, but I wish it still:

However I do not know if it will go without patches. If yes then good, if not then please write to me, I'll explain what and how to patch.

There is many thing what need to be realized still. But it's already possible to fly around Earth.

Probably on current 2.0 or even 1.9 build Vostok-1 will not fly.

Please try latest build from here http://flightgear.simpits.org:8080/ or rebuild FG by using wiki http://wiki.flightgear.org/Building_FlightGear.

Let me know if some problems could occur, let's think about it together.

I suppose that you have to spawn at(I`m guessing)300,000 ft

Do not know about frame rate. Here it's ~ same level as other detailed crafts. Can not help with it.

About takoff: Open panel on right then press r key to unlock throttle, then press first left up panel button then push throttle up by PgUp key.

And if You are use 2.0 installation it would not work. Use latest installation build from here http://flightgear.simpits.org:8080/job/ ... _2.2.0.exe

Flight altitude for that Vostok-1 version is 125km. It's ~410.000 ft. And it's not spawn, it's climb to it.

Thank You all for interest. Await bug reports.

I just finished a launch from Moffet Field and a brief space flight to Los Angeles. I almost made it back to earth, but at about 120,000 feet I exceeded 5 G's and the rocket broke. :o

After checking the log, I didn't have any bugs or issues during the flight.

Very good work so far, it must have taken a lot of time to put this all together. :)

It's made to make people understand what air flow pressure on booster is very high. Even if real Vostok-1 can handle bigger qbars, simulator makes You to do throttle down and throttle up.

Read documentation about all limitations. I suppose list of it will grow.

Wish You to make full flight. Anyway, emergency procedure now is to drop all stages in normal succession and than land as it was normal flight.
