FGMEMBERS: The Family

FGMEMBERS: The Family

Postby IAHM-COL » Thu Jun 11, 2015 10:00 pm

Hi ALL

FGMEMBERS is now grown to the size of a Family :D

Image

FGMEMBERS consists of 4 organizations. Two Organizations for Aircraft (GPL and NON-GPL content), and two Organizations for Scenery (GPL and non-GPL content)

Depending on the content you are looking for it could be hosted, and/or developed at:

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-NONGPL

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY-NONGPL

It should be self-explanatory, but if in doubt, leave a note in this thread below :D
If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall

Regarding the custom scenery for the Iberian Peninsula, I said in the past it was released under the CC (can't remember exactly which flavour), but I was mistaken. I fixed my error years ago. I'm not sure where you got these packages and how updated they are (I'm using terrasync now and buildings are much updated there), but some of the airports were never licensed under the CC because I didn't have the right to do so.

I don't have any problem to release my personal work as GPL, but in that package there are many other copyrighted works not authored by me but Codolar and Luka, and they don't want to release their work as GPL, CC or any other open license. This fact is clearly stated in the wiki page:

Most of the buildings and airports are free and can be downloaded from terrasync. Unfortunately, the authors of a few of the airports did not release the buildings under an open source license. Hence, consider all buildings and textures in this file private, and use the versions submitted to Terrasync for your opensource projects.

Hence, the files in the last version of the IBE project are fully protected by the default copyright laws, and they can only be distributed from vivefg! as intended by their original authors. Nearly all my personal work is now available using terrasync and the few airports that are not, they are not under GPL or CC and it is for good reasons.

Can you please remove the custom scenery for the Iberian Peninsula from your repositories, please?

Thanks for clarifying.
