Monthly Open ATC Session

Postby CaptB » Mon May 11, 2015 9:25 am

Hello friends,

I would like to invite all those of you who are interested in learning/improving their knowledge of procedures, interaction with ATC to the Open ATC Session.

More on the event:

Held every last Sunday of each month 18:00Z (UTC)
Located at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport ( EKCH )
Open to everyone, Pilots and aspiring ATC
Discussion at the mumble channel ( not for ATC operations )
If you are a pilot flying in the area you will be able to ask any quetions in relation to your and other flights in the area.
If you are an aspiring ATC, or just interested you can discuss any ATC related topic independant of your presence on multiplayer network.

I hope this will be of help to those who are interested in a bit more immersion and realism.

Take care!

Honestly, I think this is a brilliant idea, combining the possibility of learning without the hassle of heavy infrastructure, and probably the best way to teach without imposing anything to anyone, and to learn without having to follow "courses" or things alike. I do hope you have the patience to keep these sessions up regardless of how well they are attended. Most installed sessions on FG seem to have needed time to settle properly.

Would this topic not remain more visible and be more adequately positioned in the "Multiplayer events > Air traffic control" subforum? If I were you I would ask for the move...

Then a lot of topics have to be moved.

Thanks, and by the way those sessions are not supposed to be stict either, rather an open, inclusive and friendly environment to have a discussion.

Yes lol. But this is a newly created forum, so we have an excuse to pass on all prior posts.

Was a lot of fun, except for the text messages not getting through. Next time I'm gonna look up the lost comms procedure and just follow it if needs be.
Cheers.

Ah yes, we had a discussion about the lost text issue with mickybadia, most of it is related to the UDP protocol and I should be able to overcome this in the future now that I know of it. The rest is just the fact that your friendly controller is used to a different workflow and software  , this will also get better :)

Yea, I had a discussion with him, too, and seems like it's not gonna be solved any time soon because it's not what he first thought it was.
Did you record the session?

This session was not recorded since I had some problems with the streaming software last time, also there was only one aircraft at that session, I completely did not expect to have anything to record

Take care!
