Crash when removing a strip

Postby JohnF » Mon Oct 10, 2016 11:49 pm

Hello micky,

I recognized a bug caused when clicking on the [- Strip] - Button.
Under unidentified circumstances the application shuts down immediately leaving the following output in the (win) cli:

(Output of the CLI running as administrator)
D:\Games\ATC-pie-0.9.2\ATC-pie-0.9.2>ATC-pie.py EDDM
Loading aircraft data... done.
Reading world navigation data... done.
Session PID 7568 starting in AD mode at location EDDM.
Radar centre position is: 48°21'10.91''N 11°47'10.17''E
No background image list found.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "D:\Games\ATC-pie-0.9.2\ATC-pie-0.9.2\GUI\strips.py", line 245, in <lambda>
self.deleteStrip_button.clicked.connect(lambda: discard_selected_strip(self))
File "D:\Games\ATC-pie-0.9.2\ATC-pie-0.9.2\GUI\strips.py", line 88, in discard_selected_strip
if settings.confirm_lossy_strip_deletions and yesNo_question(self, 'Releasing strip details', \
NameError: name 'self' is not defined

How to reproduce:
- run ATC-pie.py EDDM (other airport might "work" too)
- go online (fgfsmp)
- add a plain strip
- assign strip to an aircraft
- click [- strip] button

--------------------

Since I caused this error multiple times in a row whilst performing common actions I may pressume it could be related to
My setup:
    - Windows 10 (intel x64)
    - Python 3.5.2rc1
    - ATC-pie version 0.9.2 (from sourceforge)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the great work published, I enjoy using the application

Cheers,
John

Hi there, thanks very much for this report, which could not have been clearer in this case.

The problem is quite simply shame on me, and comes from a quick rework of a code section with too little testing before release. The testers mailing list has gone more silent recently, so more unfortunate stuff could get through this time and the serious testing ultimately fell on you further down the line. If you wish, you can be on that list to help filter such problems ahead of releases.

Anyway, I have fixed this and 0.9.3 is already available, correcting the problem, with thanks to you. It occurred when the "warn of lossy strip deletions" option was turned on and producing an effect. Could you mark your topic solved after confirming 0.9.3 is stable?

NB: In general for bug reports, consider SourceForge tickets if you know what they are, and include version number (or commit number if pulling from Git).

Thank you micky for the very quick reply (and fix).

Did not know sourcefource has a bugtracker, be sure I'm going to use it for further reports.

Cheers,
John
