JACK (ALSA)

Postby LoCall » Fri Apr 16, 2021 6:57 pm

Hi Micky,

I have no sounds out on my JACK installation.

Nothing is wrong with the JACK installation itself that work as expected with any other non python ...

In Pulse everything is fine, including voice recognition and land lines.

Not clear from pyaudio doc pages but something should be passed to pyaudio.PA ...
any help / clue ?

thank you

Unfortunatelly I have zero experience with JACK but ALSA should work.

Maybe it's best to see of you can get anything (non Flightgear related) to output from OpenAL first.

Just a heads up: There was a fix for a recently introduced sound problem pushed to git next.

thank you very much Erik to come in help.

I feel sorry to not have been clear enough.

1. My JACK installation is working amazingly fine with everything but with ATC-pie.

2. - i am on dev version atc-pie-code-003296
- the last dev version is aaa1674
- the only files managing sound questions in ATC-pie are :
- - ATC-pie.py
- - ext/sr.py
- - ui/SystemSettingDialogs.py that define some messages srtings
The files off version 003296 are carbon copy of the one in aaa1674

3. python use the said function to initialize de sound ...
the said function is not present elsewhere then in this 3 files.

I am sure if I dive in that chapter I could find a solution.
I am just not enough familiar with it as for now.

but surely someone is ... ?

Thank you Erik.

kind regards

Ah okay.
Maybe you should mention ATC-pie in the header to attract the right developers.

Update: Never mind I now see it's in the ATC-Pie subforum..

Hi Erik

let me confirm I understand correctly what you say:

Posting in the "ATC-pie" Forum is not enough to make clear it is about ATC-pie and it should be necessary to repeat it is about ATC-pie somewhere else ? Correct ?

I do mean, the question is :

how was the confusion possible ?

was there a possibility to ready to post header without spotting to forum to which it does belong ?

That's easy:
I only look for new posts by using the "Active Topics" option at the top of the main page and this time I ignored the small forum tag associated with the post.

"Why not?" said Gurder.

tried
the confusion is easily possible.

It is in my opinion a flaw in the design of the forum software.
and I suppose it will not change easily.

When writing next topic head - I will take that in account.

Back on topic,

I already spend 14 to 16 hours a day in front of the computer screens...
and some of theses hours to develop something for the FG community.

I was wondering if someone could simply share an already known solution.

Not the case.
Will look on these myself later (when I can) and share back here the found solution.

Only have to thank you for your time

bye

Kind Regards

i don't yet run JACK... i'm currently redirecting all my audio directly via pulse settings in ~/.config/pulse/default.pa... pulse handles that and then feeds it to ALSA, IIRC...

i will say, though, that there is some weirdness with JAVA apps' sound redirections... i have a sink set up for at least one of my JAVA apps but i recall having to play about with some stuff before i was able to get it to redirect to the sink as desired... from the sink, i can then capture via OBS and/or monitor via my normal sound or headphones as desired...

yes indeed, wkity42,
the sink collection and redirection sound clear when one see the documentation around on respectives website and related
then
not crystal clear... when I look a what my computer do ... lol

But, I have things working now from a few months, and have been able to use this for work on 2 audio/video prod. - nice.

by curiosity here is my pulse conf (none in homeUser but in etc)
Code: Select all
### Automatically connect sink and source if JACK server is present
.ifexists module-jackdbus-detect.so
.nofail
load-module module-jackdbus-detect channels=2
.fail
.endif

and some time the proper sink appears (is exposed) to jack stanza / some times not (for reasons still to discover).
