Aircraft disappear when switching to osgEarth

osgEarth renders the terrain scene by building the textured geometry at runtime from raw source imagery and elevation data.

Aircraft disappear when switching to osgEarth

Postby bkt » Wed Jun 28, 2017 4:11 pm

hi everyone! :)

OS: Windows 8.1
FG: 2.12 [with patched osgEarth]

everything goes well, except "aircraft sink into ground when switching to osgEarth"!

I copied the .stg file containing objects, into the following directories:
C:\Program Files\FlightGear\data\Scenery\Objects
C:\Program Files\FlightGear\terrasync\Objects
C:\Users\...\Documents\FlightGear\TerraSync\Objects

but no difference!
so what is the problem? many thanks in advance.

Hello bkt,

when you say "sink", are the aircraft / objects completely below the terrain surface or just poorly surface clamped? Is the ownship that you are flying also poorly positioned?

btw, there are newer branches of the osgEarth implementation. You might find improved surface clamping behavior in the 2016.2 branch.

Thanks Jeff.
I used FG 3.1.0-OsgEarth and the problem solved!
