Request for pre-compiled binaries

osgEarth renders the terrain scene by building the textured geometry at runtime from raw source imagery and elevation data.

Request for pre-compiled binaries

Postby agough » Fri Aug 28, 2015 9:39 pm

This is a bit of a cheeky request, but is there any chance that some nice person could upload a Windows OSG-Flightgear binary for 3.6 or later? I've tried to get my head around the various instructions for compiling, but I'm afraid I just don't have the time to learn so many new things at the moment.

I know this may sound a bit feeble, but I'd really love to get my hands on a working version of this coupled with 3.6/7's great new features.

Cheers, :D

can you compile at least FG on your own?

i can cross-compile osgEarth libraries for you, but you have to link them yourself.

I'm afraid that included compiling FG itself too. Can you link libraries to something already compiled?

Any reason you can't use the nightly builds?

http://download.flightgear.org/builds/nightly/

The *nightly-full.exe includes the simulator with all the needed data. The *nightly.exe only the main executable, in case you want to update the simulator without downloading all the data (this will not always work)

@ludomotico, he is talking about osgEarth integration with SG/FG, so he must compile poweroftwo's patched SG/FG and link with osgEarth libraries.

we've been working on a mxe-based cross build for Windows - and it would be good to have a pool of people willing to help with developing/testing different parts of this,

I'd like to have osgEarth on Linux.
Do you know how to integrate it into Flightgear 3.6 or 3.7 ?

I build FG with the download_and_compile.sh script.

hi pommesschranke,

as far as i know osgEarth comes with its own set of patches for FG/SG before you can use the osgEarth libraries, i haven't linked Flightgear with osgEarth yet simply because i'm still involved in the effort to try and cross-compile SG/FG first(with the target bieng offer pre-compiled binaries).

the latest patches to allow osgEarth feature were targeted towards FG 3.4, you can get the patches already merged with the SG/FG source code from poweroftwo's repository: https://gitlab.com/u/poweroftwo

osgEarth on the other hand is pretty easy to compile.

you would need to rebase the 3.4 patches onto 3.7
I don't think there was much overlapping development happening recently, so things will probably apply "as is" - if not, just post your compilation errors here
