3.0.0 rc2 Options behaviour

Postby mhab » Fri Feb 07, 2014 12:59 am

Hello

I experience some inconsistency:

1) If I enable terrasync checkbox in FGRUN (3rd screen) it initiates commandline option --enable-terrasync
Rem.: I guess this is related to property /sim/terrasync/enabled ?!

2) If in FG then I bring up the dialog of menu File/Scenery Download the checkbox "Enable automatic download/update" is active
so far so good

Inconsistency a)
Menu says: Scenery Download
Dialog title: Automatic Download of Scenery and Data

Inconsistency b)
If I do NOT enable the terrasync checkbox in FGRUN then in FG Menu Download Dialog the checkbox "Enable automatic download/update" is always OFF
--> it is not remembered and not saved at exit

Inconsistency c)
The checkboxes "Download traffic and multi-player aircraft" and "Download other data files" are always OFF after startup
even if AI traffic is enabled
--> they are not remembered and not saved at exit

Additionally I wonder what "other data" means in this context.

Thanks
Mike-DE

I would like to add this as a feature whisch:

when I enable "Traffic" and "Transparent" in the map then Flightgear schould remember this
for the next time.

Please add bug reports and feature requests also to the bug tracker (see link on top of the page). You will need a Google account though.

getting a google account and making a feature request, takes roughly 5 minutes - implementing this takes 60 seconds - it's just setting userarchive="y", look up the properties in the corresponding XML dialog, and add them to preferences.xml with the usersarchive attribute set.
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit
Thanks & all the best,

Sorry

I'm getting tired of this. I have wasted lot's of time with bug reports and in my mind useless discussions if the feature is better so, so or so or so.
Then as I learned more I have fixed things myself, then I tried to bring it to git
and had repeatedly lots of problems, because git behaves as all say it should not
and the fact for me is it does not what it should and no one can explain why ...
and now mentioning inconsistencies, which could as well be bugs, I hear I shall make bug reports

I will NOT and I will fix my own preferences.
This adds just another minute to the about 3hrs of porting effort I already have for each new FG release for all the adjustments I have made
which most likely will not find open ears in FG community.

And B.T.W If it is so simple, why don't you fix it instead of using the time to post good advice here ?

Happy hours to all in FG ivory tower
