Fatal ExceptionStarting RC 3.5

Postby drdavid » Fri Feb 14, 2014 7:33 am

Hi--

I just downloaded and installed RC 3.5. When I clicked on Run, the splash screen appeared to be loading normally, then I got an alert window:

Fatal Exception
Sqlite error: attempt to write a readonly database received from INSERT OR REPLACE INTO stat_cache (path, stamp) VALUES (?,?)

When I clicked on the alert "Okay" button, it forced closed FG.

To test what might be in the console, I enabled it:

Enabling ATI viewport hack
Sqlite error: attempt to write a readonly database received from INSERT OR REPLACE INTO stat_cache (path, stamp) VALUES (?,?)

This time, when I clicked on Okay, FG Run was closed, but the rest od FG was still open and functional.

My OS:
Code: Select all
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU
   Intel Core i7 @ 2.40GHz
   Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology

Micro-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz

RAM
   12.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Graphics
   Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@59Hz)
   Intel HD Graphics 4000
   NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 1G (Default)
     HD Monitor:  LG E2341 Flatron
Hard Drives
   932GB Hitachi HTS541010A9E680 (SATA)
        HD-2: Toshiba Automatic Backup Portable Drive, 1TB

Any ideas?

your $FG_HOME must be writeable by FlightGear, that's where it keeps its configuration files: http://wiki.flightgear.org/$FG_HOME
The error message suggests that your navdata cache isn't writeable: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Navdata_Cache
If the directory is writeable, it's probably a problem with the SQL DB itself - to check that, just rename/delete those navcache files, which will trigger a fresh rebuild.

Hi-- I found the navdata cache files. There were three. I deleted an one and renamed the 3.0 file. FG wrote a new navdata cache. When I clicked on Run I got a crash report (which I submitted). Then it stuck me I could export the crash report using 7-zip. Here's the xml version:

Code: Select all
<CrashRpt version="1402">
    <CrashGUID>23a75501-a8db-4c5b-bf31-b5d7220f18ae</CrashGUID>
    <AppName>FlightGear</AppName>
    <AppVersion>3.0.0</AppVersion>
    <ImageName>C:\FlightGear 3.0.0-rc5\bin\Win64\fgfs.exe</ImageName>
    <OperatingSystem>Windows 8.1 Build 9600</OperatingSystem>
    <OSIs64Bit>1</OSIs64Bit>
    <GeoLocation>en-us</GeoLocation>
    <SystemTimeUTC>2014-02-14T07:35:04Z</SystemTimeUTC>
    <ExceptionAddress>0x7ff6872c1c86</ExceptionAddress>
    <ExceptionModule>C:\FlightGear 3.0.0-rc5\bin\Win64\fgfs.exe</ExceptionModule>
    <ExceptionModuleBase>0x7ff6872c0000</ExceptionModuleBase>
    <ExceptionModuleVersion>0.0.0.0</ExceptionModuleVersion>
    <ExceptionType>11</ExceptionType>
    <GUIResourceCount>25</GUIResourceCount>
    <OpenHandleCount>326</OpenHandleCount>
    <MemoryUsageKbytes>61256</MemoryUsageKbytes>
    <CustomProps>
        <Prop name="hudson-build-id" value="2014-02-10_10-33-43" />
        <Prop name="hudson-build-number" value="110" />
    </CustomProps>
    <FileList>
        <FileItem name="crashdump.dmp" description="Crash Minidump" />
        <FileItem name="crashrpt.xml" description="Crash Description XML" />
    </FileList>
</CrashRpt>

Don't know if this helps. Do I just need to delete the other old navdata cache still in the folder?

@hooray--

Please note the comment posted above this.

Having no success today at getting RC3.5 to run, I did a full uninstall (that included uninstalling RC3.4 to make sure I had no file cross-contamination), reinstalled 3.5, then checked the navdata cache again. Still getting the crash code.

Mostly bummed out. :cry:

After doing a thorough uninstall and cleaning out of all the old files from previous installs, I am now able to access RC 3.5. :D

Hi, I am also using FlightGear on Windows and I also have this error from time to time. It always takes me an hour of reading forum messages, wiki entries, etc... until I remember what I did the last time.
So, as an reminder to myself:

1. Stop Flightgear,
2. Open the Windows Explorer
3. Delete the following directory (if your user name is barry): C:\Users\barry\AppData\Roaming\flightgear.org
4. Start Flightgear again.
