How to insert an image on a topic

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do you insert an image into a topic like this one?

If you hit the "Full Editor" button (next to "Submit"), you should see a button for an image. That will add the tags "[img]"and"[/img]". Paste the url of the image you want to put in the post between those two tags and you should be good to go!

Note that the images have to be from a url, rather than an upload. You can't upload pictures directly to the forum (to the extent of my knowledge).

okay I tried to insert an image in my last post, but all I can see on my end is the text saying Image and a tiny icon to the right of it. Can you see the image on your end?

Opening the image (Right-click - open image in new tab) shows a 404 (not found) error. Are you sure this is the correct, especially full link to the file and that it is publicly accessible and not restricted?
