flightgear.org/forums/ dead link

Postby legoboyvdlp » Thu May 30, 2019 11:20 am

Many links use the old style of flightgear.org/forums/.
It appears that the redirect has now been removed - as I recall there was a post on the mailing list about an RSS feed breaking as well.
For example,
https://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewt ... 45#p181570

These links are now dead. Is it possible to restore the old redirect to avoid broken links (especially on the wiki)?

If the {{furumref}} template always was used, this would not be an issue, as all links using it was changed when the forum URLs was changed (see diff).

Unfortunately it was only used on 13 pages. I am as much at fault as anyone else when it comes to this.

For reference, I have created some MediaWiki templates to handle all forum links and URLs. I then converted all direct links and URLs in the wiki to use these templates. See:

So, in the wiki at least, we do not have to worry about dead links to the forum.
