Feature request: calendar

Postby Volador » Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:49 am

It's been discussed previously in connection with multilayer events, a calendar type post that multiple users can make posts in which does not grow the thread length? Some html magic? A permission group for trusted users to update the same post?

Hi,

I proposed to create a subforum a while ago. We could make it such that all topics are automatically closed for replies to force other people to use the discussion topics. Would that work? You can nicely add the date to the topic title, and it's immediately clear which events are upcoming (and you can already post info about future events). Or are you intending to use it differently?

If you're really looking for a calender-like setup I think it's much more flexible to use a dedicated calender service...

this was my thought, too... like a shared group calendar one might create on google...

but yeah, if an actual calendar is not required, a small sub-forum with a couple of flying group members as mods only in said sub-forum would work... they could move discussions to the discussion thread(s), edit the "current flight plans" message, maybe even manage a "Wed Flying Group" group people could be members of for access to the group sub-forum...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

We have been so busy with keeping our piston engines running at high altitude last Wednesday, that we couldn't discuss.

External calendar has the disadvantage of everything, which starts as free and cool and goes downhill later in terms of data protection and/or fees.
As long as we can keep a published schedule, there is little need for dedicated calendar. The problem is just, that a number of people should be enabled to keep this schedule updated
In a democratic approach we'll hear more opinions within (the open to everyone) group.

Own sub-forum with admin rights doesn't sound too bad.
Gijs, possible?
