RC3 Crashed on Windows 8

Postby drdavid » Fri Feb 15, 2013 8:16 am

Hi All--

I have tested all three RCs for 2.10. The first two worked with no problems. Now, today, RC3 has crashed twice--just suddenly popped me back to the Wizard Load page. It happened once with Rembrandt enabled and again without. There was no warning of any problems such as a decrease in framerate, or an error message. I haven't installed any other new software since downloading the three RCs.

Here is the readout from my console for the second crash:

We've seen a number of people reporting issues that seemed related to their use of terrasync in one way or another, could you quickly check if the problem is in some way affected (i.e. DISAPPEARS ?) by NOT using TerraSync and instead by using previously downloaded/installed scenery, or even just using the KSFO default scenery - just to verify if this seems related or not ?

Also, if the crash can be reproduced, it would be great if you could increase your log-level via --log-level=debug and post a detailed log here (or even better using the issue tracker instead).
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit
Thanks & all the best,

The "locked" remark about the terrasync folder is a bit irritating.

Is Windows 8 even more protective of folders on the Windows partition or is this problem all related to Terrasync?

It relates to the SVN locking in TerraSync. I should really finish my libSVN replacement code, which is a lot simpler and won't bother with any locking at all.
