menu option to open docs

Postby gkick » Sat Apr 08, 2017 6:47 pm

what would be the command to open a pdf from the help menu, there is the open_browser command to call index.html and the index hyperlink then opens a doc. Is it possible to open a doc directly, be it pdf, rtf or jpg etc..
Thanks

As in opening a pdf file from inside FlightGear? Then the answer is probably "unable", to use pilot jargon. :P
I wonder if FlightGear being able to open arbitrary files would be a good thing or not, though I can see its usefulness in this particular case.

In fact one can do so, took me a while to figure out though

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<PropertyList>

<default>

<menu n="10">
<label>Navigation</label>
<enabled type="bool">true</enabled>
<item>
<label>The Cockpit</label>
<binding>
<command>open-browser</command>
<path>aircraft/fgnavigator1/Docs/FGN_Cockpit.pdf</path>
</binding>

Nice work!

MAKE SURE you use FGNavigator1 exactly as shown, or Linux and macOS users will not see it
