Italian translation

Postby Jacopo Mii » Mon Dec 09, 2013 3:32 pm

Hello!
I'm Jacopo, a new member of this forum.
I am Italian and I'm working to translate the official manual of the FlightGear simulator in my language. If you are interested when I'm done I'll post it here to make it available to all Italian users. I would also like to participate in the translation of the entire website in Italian. I am a webmaster.
Excuse me if I'm wrong section.

Waiting for reply :D
See you soon

No one is interested?
But in the manual it says to feel free to send translations to the staff
I was expecting at least an answer ...

Hi Jacopa,

We're certainly interested! Thanks for taking the time to go through the manual. December is a very busy month for most of us, thus requests like this get more easily ignored for a while. I've forwarded this topic to Stuart, who's the maintainer of the manual, so your work will hopefully be merged in time for the upcoming release.

Cheers,
Gijs

I don't think it's necessary to do "all or nothing", but Stuart should be able to tell us ;-)

There is an error in section 4.5.7 in manual for 2.12 version.
"overcase" should be "overcast"
It isn't the only error there, but certainly is the most important
ps: why the html version here: http://www.flightgear.org/Docs/getstart/getstart.html it is not the most updated manual?

Why have not given the ability to translate the file "options.xml" and "keyboard.xml" present in the "data" folder?

Translations for options.xml do exist. Even in Italian! See the Translations/ folder (or https://gitorious.org/fg/fgdata/source/Translations/it).
keyboard.xml does not need a translation, because its text (I think you refer to the description tags) is not used in the sim.

Where can I translate the submenu "buttons common to all aircraft" in the "Help" menu?

You cannot at this moment. It's currently hardcoded in Nasal/gui.nas (line 1259 onwards). So you can change the descriptions there, but then you'll loose the English version.

Will it be possible to translate them in future versions?

If someone implements support for it. I'm not aware of anyone working on that though.
