Whats the best way to build a Canvas ND?

Canvas is FlightGear's new fully scriptable 2D drawing system that will allow you to easily create new instruments, HUDs and even GUI dialogs and custom GUI widgets, without having to write C++ code and without having to rebuild FlightGear.

Whats the best way to build a Canvas ND?

Hello
Won of my projects is the MD-11, and I think it really needs a MD-11 style Canvas ND.

What is the best way to go about building one?

How can I edit svg files? Inkscape?
Are svgs just images, or do they include animations?
How do I implement Richards MFD Framwork?

I noticed Artix's A330 ND has alot of files, probably since the entire display was rebuilt.

I have fairly decent OOP nasal knowledge

thx,
Skillset: JSBsim Flight Dynamics, Systems, Canvas, Autoflight/Control, Instrumentation, Animations
Aircraft: A320-family, MD-11, MD-80, Contribs in a few others
