Thank heavens it's not me. Does yours go backwards when you set weather to Stormy Monday.

I don't know. I'm back in the Caribbean in my Twin Otter, where a pirate belongs! :D

Yep, incomplete METAR strings have caused this behaviour before. I quite thought that those issues was solved. Though somehow I get the impression that this for some reason does not happen to everyone. Which makes fixing the bug more difficult, since an issue that can not reliably be replicated on a developers computer can not reliably be debugged.

if you have a craft that exhibits this blackness and other craft do not at the same airport with the same weather and time of day then yes, it could easily be the craft...

for example, it may be possible that the material used for the windows is not being processed properly and thus they are not clear... this could be from normals being reversed or even texture files missing... it could also be badly formed or improperly parsed METAR strings... if you can grab the METAR string at the time of your black outside, that could go a long way to fixing the problem...

you need to study the console output of the problematic craft to see if there are any errors reported for the problematic craft that are not reported for working craft... it might be that increasing the logging details may be necessary to show the problem in the logs...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Not sure you picked up Surfers post. After my initial post he went to the same airport with the DR400 and got the same black screen, which does tend to indicate it's the plane. I will keep monitoring and change planes to see what happens.

The DR400 has Rembrandt lights as I recall, on some hardware this causes black cones when not using Rembrandt. If you look at the aircraft in e.g. tower view is it like a black cone in front of the aircraft?

I don't see the aircraft at all in tower view. I do see everything normal in Chase view.

I'm flying a different plane but will take a look when I've landed, but I'guessing I'll get the same as surfer.

I tried the DR400 again. Now everything looks ok, except tower view. I still don't see the aircraft.

Well just tried again at EGPE and it does the same thing. The visibility was at 4000 on the metar data. The planes still goes backwards when I click on Stormy Monday. Just tried EGPF (Glasgow) and the plane went immediately backwards. I guess I will just stop using DR400. It happens on both the 120 & 180. Shame it's a nice plane to fly. I have to say though it has only started doing this with Live weather & AW, it works fine on fair and plane doesn't move.

You... don't see the aircraft in tower view at all? Not even a blue-yellow glider? If so, could you show a screenshot to see what you actually see?

without testing, this sounds like the craft is being pushed by the winds... possibly the craft has not been updated for the stiction code or it is not taking the winds into account... i've seen both YASIM and JSBSIM craft do this and in both cases, it took some updating of the craft code to fix...

one of the first times i saw this was when i attempted to load a helicopter... just sitting cold and dark the craft was being blown by the wind...

EDIT:

i also note that there are two DR400's available... one is a YASIM that offers -120 and -180 whereas the other is a JSBSIM model... i suspect robert is using the YASIM flavor of the craft since he mentions trying both engine configurations...

If I recall according to Metar Data the wind was just 5 knots, hardly enough I would have thought to have such a dramatic effect, but then again it's only started happening since I load 2019.1 and Live weather now works. Just noted your update, you are correct. Where do I find the other DR400.
