@Robertfm I see that you are not using AW. If this is not intentional and you want to use it you have to turn on AW autostart in launcher (you need a recent version of FG) or click OK when you select AW in weather dialog.

Perhaps just the photo it's definitely blue at ground level. Looking at IoM actual weather there was mist at 3 to 400 feet but on short final I was below that and should have been able to see the runway but it was almost totally covered and even more bizarrely appeared to be in the wrong place. As I said I have landed here numerous times so know where the runway should be. I am currently flying to IoM now and according to local weather it's bright and sunny, so we'll see in an hour.

I flew in again this morning firstly VFR with same problem. Then I flew IFR and again the runway was note visible right until I touched down. Not sure real planes could land safely, it took me completely by surprise, so it is mist, I stand corrected,

Why not try changing your weather settings to see if this is the problem.

I am using live weather so I'm assuming that is what I should be seeing. When I change to fair weather it disappears when I'm flying, then I switch back and it comes back. It is not happening on any other coastal airport and Manx is apparently prone to low cloud and mist. The minimums is 200 feet but at the moment the mist is less than 100ft so how real planes land is anyones guess

Real planes don't land. They take the alternate if the pilot can't see the runway or approach lights by minimums.

Occasionally I get a black sky. Clouds, land, water illuminated, just black sky, and usually after a METAR change. When I go to a new weather area, the sky returns to normal (well, except yesterday, and the sky should have been black).

Is that what you are experiencing?

On my system, the black sky during sunny weather occurs when there are slashes in the METAR report where the vis should be. Like //// // ////

This is all very confusing. In another piece of advice it is said that altering the visibility for default 9999 in Metar to 50SM helps the black screen. However that means you alter Live to manual. Then the Metar doesn't work, as soon as you switch back to live the visibility defaults to 9999. So what is the answer.

This has now got ridiculous. I will try to explain. Flying out of EGPE (Inverness). Version 2019.1 Live weather set. Screen black, sound of rain. Switch to Cat 1,2,3 same, thunderstorm same, fair clear view. Stormy mainly fine except it sends my plane backwards without engine running, and I mean backwards rapidly. I tried V 2018.3.2 and whilst Live doesn't work, everything else as described happens. AW is on throughout this.

Picture one is on the ground. Picture 2 is taking off, and P3 is when I have gained some altitude. Of course I am flying blind, using PUi to get my bearings.

Is your display always like that at EGPE?

I just started the sim there, and it looks great (for me). Raining, bad vis, low clouds, and grey sky.

The short answer is no. I have restarted FG with a different plane and it is as I would expect lots of rain but no black screen Could it be the plane ?. I don't see how but that plane going backwards is seriously weird. It was the DR400. I'm now using Lioneau.

This doesn't make a lot of sense, but the DR400 shows all black outside the aircraft at that airport. ??

Edit Just communicated with another pilot at that airport. He's using real weather, and it is working fine with a PA-28
