METARs for ISA atmosphere?

Postby Necolatis » Fri Mar 31, 2017 6:47 pm

I have been using "Fair Weather" for when testing aircraft in an ISA atmosphere, but that probably not fully correct, at least the temperature is 5 degrees off.

Does anyone have compiled some METARs that simulate ISA atmospheres for convenient flight testing?

The ones I am looking for is:
ISA
ISA +10
ISA -15
ISA -30

I can probably do some myself, but no reason to reinvent the wheel if someone else already has done it.

Do not use any weather engine, and you'll get the standard atmosphere.

The weather engines just utilize some more fundamental atmosphere code by pushing sea level temperatures and pressures which the atmosphere code then extrapolates.

(Side remark - that extrapolation is of course pretty bad meteorology, but so is the standard atmosphere).

Sorry for asking stupid, I tried to look up in the wiki how to disable weather engines, but failed to find anything.

How is that done?

also, for "ISA -15" would a metar like this do it, or do I need to change the pressure also? (if so then to what?)

Okay, I got the answer to that now. ISA +X only changes the temperature, not the sealevel pressure.
