Exterior rain not working

Postby wlbragg » Thu Apr 21, 2016 12:53 am

I noticed recently that the exterior rain falling doesn't seem to be working. I don't see the visual of the rain falling when looking out the window from inside the cabin.

I am using fgdata next and a nightly that is from about the same time frame (4-1-16).

I just pulled the latest nightly and it still is not working.

Anyone else notice this?

it has been this way since the particle stuff quit working... particles were restored but apparently we've not yet found the rain portion...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

i'm sure it has been written about but i don't recall any specific fixes being discussed for the rain like there was for the smoke and other particle using stuff...

Yes, this is known:

I think only James and myself were looking at this. It hasn't been fixed yet for a simple reason - we haven't come up with an elegant design to integrate the FlightGear OSG scenegraph implementation with the new subsystem design. Ok, maybe it's not that simple ;)

@bugman, thank you for the reply and the information. I hope you can eventually get it back, it is a feature that was really nice to have and it would be very disappointing to loose it permanently.

Never seems to be, does it!

This should now be fixed in the development repository [1] [2].
