WOW! All this over a "thanks".

Anyway, anybody want to try out your bad weather skills, try Montserrat. TRPG.
Wind is being incorrectly reported 110 degrees @ 138kts 040v140. Had to go to a pre-selected weather.

Yes, FSXWX uses grib data and some math for interpolation magic. Result is very good, for freeware excellent. But NOAA data or grib decoder are not compatible with GPL2 licence (this information is 3 years old). This was one of the reasons, why I abandoned that project. Without wind aloft, app was unnecessary.

I can remember that all NOAA data is public domain.

[quote]Brent A. Gordon of noaa.gov clarified that this code is in the public domain,
and is covered by the disclaimer:

The information on government servers are in the public domain,
unless specifically annotated otherwise, and may be used freely by the public
so long as you do not 1) claim it is your own (e.g. by claiming copyright
for NWS information -- see below), 2) use it in a manner that implies an endorsement
or affiliation with NOAA/NWS, or 3) modify it in content and then present it
as official government material. You also cannot present information of your
own in a way that makes it appear to be official government information..[quote]
edit the source of my last quote is the copyright file libgrib2c0d packet in the ubuntu 20.04 repo [1].

Public domain != GPL2 or am I in the mistake ?
Because GPL2 grants to the user to free use or use for personal profit. And this is not possible with public domain.
Explain it please, if You can.
Thx.

As I'm on Linux (can't use AloftWx) I think an AloftWx fgaddon is a good idea... Anyone is already working on that?
