2017.2.1

Postby Clive2670 » Wed May 24, 2017 6:02 pm

Just checked Flightgear homepage and discovered that 2017.2.1 has been released (22/05/17) normally Thorsten informs us on the forum when a new release has taken place! This is not a "dig" at you Thorsten, maybe you are a bit busy. So I thought I make others aware just in case you had forgotten!

Yes, see the changelog for 2017.2 (note: ignore the "This changelog is a draft" warning at the top).

I have to say, I'm really impressed with this release! That last one that made my say that was 2016.1.1! Awesome job guys :)

The new splash screen makes it looks really special. I'd like to take advantage of it!

One thing I noted: Since 2016.3.x, initializing subsystems takes ages. Any ideas why?

But it's working well: http://prntscr.com/fbqr5o

there's also this which is very detailed if folks are interested in that level of information overflow ;)

i understand that it is likely to be incorporated into the build system so that it is available for each release...

are you using terrasync? if so, it may be the sim doing all its checking for the tiles in your area and ensuring that you have the latest scenery for that area... if you have a fully loaded airport area, turn off terrasync and then start at that airport and see if it is faster... "fully loaded" as in you have all of the terrain and objects for that area...

are you also using the new OSM stuff and starting in an area covered by it? it is currently only available in a few areas... i know KBOS has it and EHAM i think... this is the new stuff with vehicles on the roads and a new grass texturing capability... the grass stuff may be too new unless one is running the nightlies or building from the repo...

AFAIK there is no OSM2city for KBOS on TerraSync. It's available as a separate package.

Hi maintainer,
Hello curt Olsen ??
Hi Thorsten Dreyer,

Very good design of the launcher. But the activation in the General chapter "Show debugging console" leads
with my Windows10 version to no display of the console. :)

Also the property --console in Additional Settings does not display the console.
Functioned still up to the version 2017.1.2 faultlessly.

With the ask for help
Sincerly

Hi Thomas,

console works like that (if you have Win 10 German, I suppose/hope): on the desktop rightclick on the FG symbol, under "Verknüpfungen" you find "Ziel" with the location of the exe, add " --console" to that line, save it ("übernehmen"). Bingo.

Upps Flyngo.

Opening a second instance can not be the solution. So as already explained.
By 2017.1.2 you --console entered into the additional options and thus everything was done

A second instance requires some of the computer. Also, I can not use the launcher. Select aircraft and so on.

OK Flyngo,

Rechtsklick auf FlightGear desktop Verknüpfung EIGENSCHAFTEN wählen und die Zeile ZIEL: wie unten dargestellt um --console ergänzt. Leerzeichen nicht vergessen.

z.B.:

"C:\FlightGear 2017.2.1\bin\fgfs.exe" --launcher --console

Ein bug also.

Mit besten Grüßen :D
Thomas

OK Flyngo,

Right-click on FlightGear desktop link Properties and select the target: --console as shown below. Do not forget blank space.

for example:
"C:\FlightGear 2017.2.1\bin\fgfs.exe" --launcher --console

Then "Apply". Double click on the FGFS link and the launcher starts as desired and the --console to do so.

That was the idea of you. However, in the launcher set --console does not take. So a bug.

Best Regards :D
Thomas
