2016.4.4 Release Candidate

Postby Necolatis » Wed Dec 28, 2016 7:25 pm

So I noticed Jenkins has build this: https://sourceforge.net/projects/flight ... candidate/

Anyone knows what was changed?

Could it possibly be to handle the Windows accented user name issue mentioned in this topic?

No, it's a security release. Quoting Torsten Dreyer from the -devel mailing list (I think he will also make an announcement here in the forum):

Hi all,

I have just created a security release 2016.4.4 and made it available at
our well known SourceForge repository here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/flight ... se-2016.4/

Changes from 2016.4.3 are:

- SimGear security fix: This avoids a malicious repository writing to
files outside the local storage root.
- FlightGear Security fix: don't allow the route manager to overwrite
any file
- Add the latest scenemodels updates for the LSZH base package

If you care about security, I'd recommed using the latest version.

That would be the first release I have seen specifically dealing with a security issue. I would say I see it as a positive thing. :)

Maybe you could have said so on flightgear-devel, dear Johan G, 'cause I've felt a bit lonely in this department at times! (and yes, I'm quite happy to see this released).
