2016.2.0 - Windows, Grey landscape textures

Postby Avionyx » Wed Mar 09, 2016 11:16 am

Hi All.

This manifested itself as a small problem for me in some limited areas in a previous version of FG (3.7)
However I've just installed 2016.2.0 and it seems to happen everywhere.

Aircraft and objects are textured just fine, along with Runways and airport details, but the ground and taxiways are simply Grey.

Anyone else come across this?

Usually non-compiling terrain shaders - please identify the rendering framework and quality level settings for which this happens next and search the log for a compilation error message containing 'fragment' or 'vertex' (and let us know your graphics hardware).

Basically supply all the information a bug report is supposed to contain :-)

Are you using 'time-of-the-day'? Sometines this causes a funny bug like that.

Admonishment accepted. Apologies for the feeble bug report, I should know better.

Well I have narrowed down the issue, it only happens when Winter Textures are selected. However I can't give a more detailed reply as it also seems that I can't get FG to produce a log no matter what the settings.
Is it possible to enable the black box command line output in the new launcher? I've tried --command to no avail.

PC Specs:
Windows 10 Pro
Intel i7 4770k @ 4.2Ghz
32GB RAM
MSi GeForce GTX 980

This is a bug in 2016.x. If winter is selected in the launcher, the season in the Environment dialog becomes the time of day (!) and winter textures don't work. Open that dialog and set the season to winter manually. You'll need to do that every time, it won't stick.

Try --console, should work.

Thanks Someguy - that's sorted it! Much appreciated.

Lego, I get nothing with --console.
