my FGDATA is updated at least once a day each and every day, without fail unless i'm out of town on business... now if someone will fix that bad version file that was changed/uploaded by dumbojet's commit, we can try testing the next branch again :?

"Why not?" said Gurder.

The PAPI issue was resolved by downloading today's full .dmg package, bad fgdata version file notwithstanding. (The version roadblock is easily corrected in a text editor without another gigabyte download.) I don't plan another full download until particles and parking positions are working. I hope someone will post here when that happens.

The first person to suggest using git or svn or whatever gets a virtual pie in the face. :) I tried it once--it took me an hour to restore order to my computer, and another hour for the headache to subside. Go ahead and make fun of me if you must.

You can use whatever you like, but what you can't do is using a binary and an fgdata not in sync or an fgdata a few weeks old and then report things that don't work. If you don't run latest (and I literally mean updated before writing) and FG, SG and FGData all updated simultaneously, then nobody is interested in bug reports on that version - it moves rapidly. It just costs everyone's time to discover that the issue has been fixed a week ago and you just haven't reached that stage yet or that you're seeing an out of sync problem.

If anyone has been having nasal problems (e.g., some aircraft won't start, can't find their liveries, etc.) today's "nightly" seems to have fixed it.

Hi can anyone do an update about this new version control system? Such as the background and how it works, as well as the expected release date?

Hello Foxtrot!
I have no idea about the latter - probably February 17th?

Features
- automated, script based releases. No delays, hoepfully.
- year.version.bugfix
- year.version.0 always devel
- releases named after airports
So we'll get 4 releases a year as far as I know.
This year: 2016.1.1, 2016.2.1, 2016.3.1, and 2016.4.1. Maybe some bugfix releases (2016.1.2 for example)

there is no new version control system... nothing has changed other than the human generated numbering methodology...

i can't find the related dev list posts but you should really follow that list if you are truly interested...

What's the WS 3.0 status?
Just to know a timeframe by which to submit to the gateway.

well, considering the person, and resource responsible for generating the scenery is gone, I'd say it'll be a while. And it won't be scenery 3.0, as the biggest feature (LOD) is still a long way off. We'll see if we can create a distributed build environment, or find some server time somewhere. The full planet took about 6 weeks to complete on our previous server.

I am also unsure about the status of the landclass data. Although Corrine and the NCLD data are public domain, Martin had invested a lot of time and effort to massage this into useful scenery. I had a look at the OSM derived data, and for the US and Europe at least, our previous data was much nicer.

I'm still developing terragear to be more robust ( with data I had pulled off of mapserver years back ). But I imagine, I may need to shift gears to come up with a more distributed method of building the world

I'll post this here in hope that others will confirm and then let it be moved on to bugs for developers.

Reloading of the aircraft model under the debug menu will cause the sound to break. This will eventually lead to a memory resource problem.

Windows 10 on FG nightly. Been broken since I been using nightly builds. Aircraft I been using is the b1900d. Should be easy to recreate, test, and verify???

@Pete, could you clarify this for North America or US? What previous data are you comparing that you think is better than the OSM derived data? The last OSM derived data for US/North America was light years better than anything FG had prior. Am I misunderstanding your message?

By the way, if there is anything I can do to help the scenery generation process progress, I would be interested.
