how to get the source code of the RC3.6 version ?

Postby Curtis » Thu Oct 15, 2015 6:04 pm

I want to download the source code of the 3.6RC, in order to compile it in archlinux 64 bits,

how can I get the source code of this release candidate 3.6 ?

RC3.6 = git version of flightgear ?

in the wiki I found a git link :

git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/flightgear/flightgear

git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/flightgear/simgear simgear

I am not sure if these links lead to the RC3.6

they do, you first clone both repositories, and then you can check out the corresponding tags.

after cloning, you can run git tag to get a list of tagged branched:
version/2.10.0
version/2.10.0-final
version/2.11.0
version/2.12.0
version/2.4.0
version/2.4.0-final
version/2.5.0
version/2.6.0
version/2.6.0-final
version/2.7.0
version/2.8.0
version/2.8.0-final
version/2.9.0
version/3.0.0-final
version/3.1.0
version/3.7.0

You can check out those using "git checkout"

git help tag
git help branch
git help checkout

we do have fairly good git tutorials on the wiki, which should be accessible even to people entirely new to source code management systems, e.g.: http://wiki.flightgear.org/FlightGear_Git_for_laymen

There is a full category with git related articles: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Category:Git

I don't know if your specific use-case is covered anywhere in detail, but it should be easy to add ...

If you are unfamiliar with Git see also "git help gittutorial" and "git help git". ;) Also, I have found the "Git For Ages 4 And Up" video in this post most helpful in understanding Git better.
