Has it ever occurred to you that aircraft FDMs aren't all perfect, and some aircraft (read, the 777) will find a Kai Tak 13 approach easier than an airliner with a realistic FDM like the 737-300? If it's hard in real life, then it should be difficult in FlightGear for exactly the same reasons. If it isn't, then there's something lacking on the FlightGear side of things. Is it that hard to understand? :|

(though it's actually a bit easier in FG in general, regardless of the aircraft type, since there aren't the ground obstacles present in real life... Remember that makes up half the fun of the Kai Tak approach!)

BUT, once you watch this, you might realize it's actually kinda hard to do the landing, once you throw just a bit of bad visibility in the picture.

EDIT: Oh hey. 1700th post already.

Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Wow, impressive landing given the weather conditions. I love the ATC, how did you do that?

Thank you!
...to be honest, though, I actually kinda cheated by raising the visibility and taking out the rain, since my May 12th Snapshot build of FG couldn't handle runway lighting... -but the crosswind, turbulence etc. were not changed between the actual flight and the replay.

I used SitePal, which is a text-to-speech program available online introduced here by Sim on a different thread.
To produce the accent by the ATC, instead of using an English voice, I used a Cantonese woman's voice and typed the text to take advantage of pinyin to create a better pronounciation.
-and yes, that is one of the many benefits of being Asian; you can decode it and use it to your advantage.

I used Microsoft's voice recorder (originally for microphone recordings), but set up to record from the speaker. I recorded the spoken output, edited it into the video, and the ATC speech is embedded.

...That was a joke and I was being sarcastic... (my apologies, no racism etc. intended)
Why else was that in really small text?

I use CamStudio; it's an opensource recording tool that has several codecs you can use to record your screen.

...though generally, lagging in the video means that your processor isn't exactly up to the task; it's most likely a problem of your hardware, not the software.

-Nice landing, though! Same to Youssef and the others.

Thank you!

-By the way, this is a rather personal and selfish request, but will there be a montage for the submissions this time?
I've been looking forward to seeing one with my flights in it, but so far, the ones I've entered don't seem to have them..

Not selfish at all. I'm actually surprised I've missed that so far on editing, sorry for that.

Coming Friday, will be the montage video, which includes announcing the winner. And again, the sort of 'price' the winner gets, is being the pilot in the next Stunt Challenge announcement video

I haven't had trouble uploading recently, but the last time I uploaded a video was two weeks ago. Yesterday, YouTube failed a few times on loading pages or showing the InSight stats. What happens if you try to upload a video? Do you see an error or something?
