Simulating IRS Allignment

Postby Octal450 » Sun May 29, 2016 4:22 pm

I am going to be developing a Nasal based IRS system, it will first be inplace on the MD-11. It will not actually be able to be used for navigating (I'm not that smart), but toadd more realism to aircraft startup. It will contain 3 IRS, L, C, R. I'm sure it could be easily adapted for 2 IRS, and my goal is to make it addable to every plane, of course modifying some instruments are required. I will post the code here once it is working.

I think we already have some kind of INS/IRS code somewhere, IIRC, it was flameout who once worked on something along those lines - you may want to run a forum search.

The 757-200 has some simulation of IRS alignment.

You can also look at the A330 too :)
It should be in a separate branch.

As sanhozay pointed out, the 757 has a form of IRS alignment. It's also in the 747-8 and 767. It doesn't actually simulate an IRS, but it does simulate some of the initialization of the system. In the 747-8, there's a selection in the Control Panel dialog where you can choose your level of realism by setting how long it takes to align (30 sec, 5 min, or 13 min). It's set to 5 min for the 757/767. It doesn't really affect anything in the end except if you fly a route-manager flightplan without aligning the IRS, "IRS ALIGN" appears in orange on the EICAS for your whole flight. It also does a 30-second realignment. In the 757 and 767, it's in Nasal/systems.nas. Look for IRS/INS

@tikibar
I think I'll begin adapting systems from your 757 to the MD-11, making the necessary changes to work like an MD-11. I wish there was a wiki page that showed everything that is done so far...
I plan to have such a control box as well, with the default set on real time, but in autostart, it skips it.

I'm not the best with this m.mode m.stuff and similar nasal function, ill need that explanined, but I will try to do it a slightly different way.
