Exception with a custom airplane

Postby shouvik1984 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 8:15 am

Greetings,

I have to admit at first that I am making models for the first time for Flightgear. I have exported an AC3D format of an airplane. I have kept it simple by having the "flight-model" as network and No animations in Model XML file. Only the AC3D file path is mentioned. However I am getting an "Invalid String Position" fatal error. I believe it will be hard to tell it at this level of information abstraction but if at all you have come across this Exception and know a possible cause for this I will be glad to get any help from you.

Thanks and Regards

There is not a single place in the source code that reports "Invalid String Position" that I can find.
Which makes it really hard to determine what could be causing this.

Maybe you should methodically try to comment sections from XML files to see if you could find the reason.

Since I have made my own AC3D file could it be an error that comes from the AC3D file parsing. Does Flightgear use any thirdparty AC3D parsing logic to constitute the 3D Model?

That part of the code is inside FlightGear's source.

Could it instead perhaps be related to the OS/shell? In essence some typo with file paths in the options given to FlightGear. Could you paste your command line between [code] tags?

This looks to be an MSVC error:

I think AC3D files are loaded by OpenSceneGraph.
