Ejection Seat Possible?

Hi all,


So as you must all know, all fighter planes have ejection seats that can rocket-fire the pilot out of a stricken aircraft, allowing him to safely parachute to the ground.

I'm wondering if it'd be at all possible to incorporate this into an FG Fighter Aircraft...such as the A-6.

Here's my question: Can the below be possible:

1. Make a hot-button (clickable) on the ejection handles. These are located above the pilots head, most of the time.
2. When the ejection handle is clicked, can the seat be fired and have the pilot's FOV jump up? In other words, he becomes a parachutist.
3. The plane continues on its trajectory, or begins a nose-dive.
4. A parachute deploys on the pilot and he slows down.


We already have a parachute guy. I'm wondering if it's possible to, in essence, transfer control from the plane to the parachutist, eject him upwards, and then just have him do his normal thing. The hard part is going to be getting the seat to fire directly upwards and have the plane fly as it would if it had no control.

Should be possible. With the parachuter from the PC-6, all you need to do is give it some vertical speed at ejection. Would be pretty cool btw

An uncontrolled plane doesn't mean it crashes immediately. It just continues what it was doing at the time the pilot ejected. Ofcourse it will crash eventually, but that doesn't necesarily have to be within minutes (or hours).

I have no doubt we could easily just give some upward vertical thrust to the PC-6. But what I think could be an obstacle is quickly transferring control from the aircraft to the PC-6. Is it possible to do that?

OV10 ejects pilot....but does not stop you from flying the aircraft, although I'm sure a short script could render control useless.

Just a though about the key binding, using "e" is not a good idea as it is allready used several time for gunnery and other common features. As ejection won't occur so often, I'd prefer something like "Ctrl-e".

So I just tested out the OV10 ejection. A few reports:

1. The vertical thrust seems to be good. It doesn't have to be an ACES II Zero-Zero ejection seat.

2. We don't seem to have a model for it. It just ejects a yellow plane. Does anyone know how to turn that plane into a paraglider?

3. The "pilot" does slow down...so he must be virtually opening his chute.

Have a Look at the Porter. you can open your chute with a specific key.

Ah, now I see. I know some parachutists, but the question is how to make them appear when ejecting.

I could make an ejection seat model, then use that .ac file as the ejection seat. Is that fine?
