Website?

Postby kylek14 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 12:10 am

Probably the wrong place to post this, but here goes nothing:

I noticed that our website is a little outdated graphical wise (i mean c'mon guys, you're letting the virtual airlines get ahead of you!) So I got bored and decided to play around a bit.

Let me know what you think, just an idea, feedback's welcome.

(btw, wookierabbit, this is what I meant by the gradient background type thing)

The website is very outdated! YES IT IS. But, it is a google ads website so I don't know if we could have complete design freedom.

I have no idea how to make a website completely from scratch. Well, kinda of. I just don't have the software to do so. But I see what you mean.

For your information, we already got someone working on a new website. Actually a completely new concept. See a demo of it at http://fg-www.appspot.com/
Keep an eye on the devel-mailinglist for updates and discussion. He might be able to use your help for re-styling the page...

I am sort of a hobby web designer, but in the past few months have been working as an actual web designer. I can help with the website design in my spare time if you want.. here's an example of my recent work (not finished, works best on firefox, does not work in internet explorer or safari): http://nafis.us.to.

If I may ask who is designing the website (if the user is on here, please PM me) I'd really like to offer my advice and/or ideas.

I like the design and user personalization in here:

http://www.flightsimulatornetwork.com/p ... netacancun

Something like that would be nice. MAybe it's too much for start, but Blog, video embedded codes, groups, stuff like that. Maybe some CMS like Joomla or Drupal? Those are free and already have a bunch of plug-ins and utilities like galleries or polls etc.

Really? That just looks like a ning or webs page with it's own domain.... Not very professionally designed.

As I said above it looks like a ning or webs page so I think that would be kinda downgrading, not to much for a start.

I was thinking the same thing, it looks almost similar to a Ning

It IS a Ning...

BTW, for the concept, isn't it a bit too....white?
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

Both.

My idea is to keep most of the content and layout the same as now, but just update graphics?
