To be able to actually see in FGo! changes you made, you need to generate new messages.mo file. In the console, navigate to fgo/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES directory and run "msgfmt messages.po" command. If you will be happy with the result, send me back modified messages.po file. ...

This is what erobo told me about that... Hope it helps!

Thanks again Robert. I've updated mine and still use it in preference to FGRun.

What do I add to my London Gatwick EGKK files to ensure that FGo picks up the available parking places created with TaxiDraw?

Hi karla,

fgo is reading parking positions from ICAO.parking.xml or ICAO.groundnet.xml file (ICAO should be replaced by appropriate airport's code) in FG_SCENERY/Airports/I/C/A directory. Unfortunately, looking for answer to you question I discovered a bug which makes that parking names containing white spaces are not read by fgo properly. This bug is preventing some of the parking places already present in EGKK to be shown on the list. I'll try to fix this bug very soon.

- a bug which makes that parking names containing white spaces are not read by fgo properly -

Thanks, so that'll be fixed sometime. I've managed to get round the problem and give myself somewhere to park in the meantime by copying all the <parkinglist><Parking indices .... from my AI/Airports/EGKK/AI parking.xml file and replacing the existing one in FG_SCENERY/Airports/E/G/K/EGKK.parking.xml file. I didn't realize there were parameters for non-AI aircraft also.

My Ubuntu installation came with Python 2.6.5 by default, would that be able to run FGo?

Well, I gotta wait until download_and_compile.sh is done compiling FlightGear first.

Hi,
yet another release (fgo-1-2.tar.gz) is available for download in the first post. It fixes problems with mentioned earlier parking names and brings new option menu called: Airport data source, where you can select from which source (FligthGear's default or custom scenery) FGo should fetch information about runway and parking places. This feature may be useful for custom scenery users or creators. Please refer to README for more details. This version also introduces Dutch translation (thank you, snipey).

Important note if you are upgrading from previous release:
After installation, please use Rebuild Airport Database button in Preferences window. It will fetch all necessary runway information into FGo's database. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is also a small problem with very long parking position's names: they don't fit in parking button. For now I don't have any good solution for that problem...

Anyway, hope you will like the changes. Let me know if you will find any bugs.

Regards,
Robert

Okay, it's now working, however it seems to be looking in /home/tom/.fgfs/install/fgfs/bin/fgfs for libosgFX.so.66, which is in /home/tom/.fgfs/install/OpenSceneGraph/lib (or /home/tom/.fgfs/install/OpenSceneGraph/lib64 for the 64-bit version of the same library). This is the only thing keeping me from using this over FGRun.

It certainly is lighter than FGRun, I'll give ya that.

Thanks again Robert - nice utility.

In your next update (which is obviously not urgent) you may consider adding more options to prompt people to set up their own FG starting conditions. Among mine are -

Code: Select all
# German server for CVS = --multiplay=out,10,mpserver01.flightgear.org,5002
#--callsign=KLM
#--geometry=1920x1080
#--enable-fullscreen
#--fov=77
#--prop:/sim/frame-rate-throttle-hz=24
# for Festival -
#--prop:/sim/sound/voices/enabled=true
# for Atlas -
#--nmea=socket,out,0.5,computer_name,5500,udp
#--enable-real-weather-fetch
#--fog-nicest
#--time-match-local
# ensure day & time is compatible with AI traffic plans eg Monday & 13:53
#--start-date-gmt=2010:05:16:13:53:15
#--visibility-miles=3
#--disable-clouds
#--wind=180:200@20:30
#--random-wind
#--prop:/engines/engine0/running=true
#--prop:/consumables/fuels/tank[0]/level-gal=10
#--prop:/consumables/fuels/tank[1]/level-gal=10
#--disable-random-objects
# start landing situation -
#--in-air
#--offset-distance=15
#--altitude=3500
#--heading=260
#--vc=220
#--glideslope=-3
