Key settings

Postby Gijs » Sat Nov 03, 2007 8:07 pm

Hi,

I'd love when someone could make something in FlightGear wich let you choose (and change) the key settings. So you can choose wich key you want to use for the gear and throtlle etc.

Thanks,
Gijs

It's called data/keyboard.xml

Fire up your favourite text editor and you can break your keyboard bindings to your heart's content ;-)

Ok, that's nice! Thanks!

But when I use a car steering wheel (I know, it's not really good for flightsimming but ok) I can't adjust the settings I think by that way.

No, indeed - for a joystick (which your wheel is probably classed as) you need to create a custom joystick configuration.

There's actually a tool to do this, called fgjs - you'll probably need to run it in a "dos box" if you're on windows.

There have been quite a few questions on here about creating joystick configs so you should be able to find some useful hints there (and of course in the wiki and/or manual).

Cheers,

AJ

PS - I have no idea how you manage to fly using a wheel - I tried it once and it nearly drove me mad!

Yeah, I tried it at the FS Weekend in Lelystad and it's so more real and easy. I really recommend one to you all!! ;)
