How hard was the landing?

Postby The_Blueberry » Tue May 28, 2019 6:29 pm

Suggestion: A screen that shows how hard you land (appears on screen on touchdown and disappears after a few seconds) (optional function: turn: On / Off)

like:

TOUCHDOWN

good / bad Landing! (etc) (basicly like in P3D, Optional: without FT per sec cause of P3D copyright issues that may occur :D )

Depends on the craft what is acceptable or not though. The Shuttle approach trainer has that functionality.

I use https://github.com/RenanMsV/landing_rate for this - i think it does exactly what you're talking about?

[One minor quibble is that i think it just looks at absolute descent rate, not relative to the (e.g. sloping) runway.]

How can P3D copyright a fact like how hard you land?

Regardless, cgdae is correct, that seems to match what you say.

Actually it could just evaluate gear forces rather than vertical speed...

lego :
IMHO, gear has defined compression length, when I know (vertical) velocity and distance (compression), I can calculate g-load. It is simple math.

Here we go again. The myth that landing rate tells you things about the landing. NONESENSE!!!!! It "rewards" pilots for floating and being too soft (can cause air ground sensor fail to trigger)

You want to know it and can't tell yourself? Then you need to check G force in landing.

Kind Regards,
Josh
