FWIW: i have mentioned many times that i always update fgdata when i update fgfs... never one without the other...it may not be necessary but better safe than sorry...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Having up-to-date fgdata is mandatory for the daily builds. You need a git clone to have the most recent data available.
So whenever you install a new nightly build, do a git pull on fgdata and you are safe.

I did that when I installed the nightly.

Thank you for your advice. I suppose I was watching the data at
http://download.flightgear.org/builds/nightly/
for the file
FlightGear-3.5.0-data.tar.bz2 2015-03-14 16:58 945M
and when the date never changed I should have know there was a problem.

From now on I look for changes at Sourceforge for data updates.

I've updated /data folder, added all of my personal customizations and a new test results in...

So, I update mine via fgdata with submodules, and I have the concrete patch. So you could say I update fgdata more than fgfs.exe :P

What does "does not load" exactly mean?
Do you get an error message e.g. 404 not found or that Phi-Fragment with just a single tab like above?

Please make sure: omit the gui/ part in the URL. It is no longer valid.
The correct URL is http://localhost:8080/

If Phi does not show up,
- click on the tripple-bar button (upper right corner in the screenshot above) and select "Developer Tools" and than "Network Monitor"
- Refresh the URL by pressing F5
- Watch the log on the bottom of the window. You should see many requests resulting in a green bubble followed by "200 GET" and some other stuff.

Okay, I get a grey circle in firefox, method = GET file = / and domain = localhost:8080 and then that's all and I could wait forever and nothing changes from that point on.

There is a second problem, which has been a problem with the 3series all along, where the simulator can not operate with other windows open, like browsers. The sim freezes. I assume there is a problem in the threading model, but I don't know that for sure.

The upshot is that it is much easier to keep a stable sim if I use a browser on another computer for these tests. That will be my next test.

Still waiting and developer tools of FireFox still only shows the one GET request and nothing new to report.

Switching to test from a remote browser.

Okay, new news.

Firefox as localhost, like I said above only ever reported and never resolved the one GET. BUT!
Linking in from a remote computer using Chrome and I got the list of GETs as Torsten expects, but with two failures and they are:

Code: Select all
FIRST
gui/
thumb/http://10.0.0.10:8080
GET      (failed)
net::ERR_FAILED
image/png thumbnail.html:1
Parser
0?B
0?B
1.00?s
1.00?s

SECOND
forum.flightgear.org/
thumb/http:/
GET  (failed)
net::ERR_FAILED
image/png    thumbnail.html:1
Parser
0?B
0?B
439?ms
439?ms

Every other line says 200 okay but the page never loads.

Refreshing the page and now I get GET Pending, on just one line and it never gets anything.

More specifically the caching of the thumbnail image, which looks like the root of the problem, given the references to "thumb".

Ooh! I just thought of something!

Since I've now updated /data, then uninstalling and re-installing last weeks WinNightly FlightGear Build, where PHI always worked, should show if there is a problem with the data and not the applications.

Okay, PHI still works with last weeks Build. It's in the source and not the data! -- :)

PHI is loaded and working, there are three failures when last weeks build runs over todays data. They are:
Code: Select all
config.json
/aircraft-dir/Phi
GET 404 Not Found
text/plain jquery-1.11.2.min.js:4
Script
86?B
14?B
452?ms
308?ms
sprintf.min.map
/3rdparty/sprintf
GET 404 Not Found
text/plain Other 86?B
14?B
918?ms
797?ms

long-description
/json/sim
GET 404 Not Found
application/json jquery-1.11.2.min.js:4
Script
412?B
2?B
960?ms
894?ms

Each a 404, possibly to be expected if the app and the data are not sync'd

If the first GET request stays gray the fg internal web server is either not running or not reachable or does not respond with any data.
What you eventually see in your browser in that case (the UI with just one empty TAB) is the static HTML page displayed from the browser cache.
Pretty much useless as everything intersting gets created by JavaScript based on data delivered from the fg web server.
No data -> not UI :-(
So the question is: why has the web server stopped serving in the last week.

Those errors are unrelated but expected. Just ignore them :-)

The last code modification to the mongoose was this:
http://sourceforge.net/p/flightgear/fli ... 0541b789e/ (2015-05-29)

Can you post a screenshot of the Help->About dialog.
I am interested in the revision and build numbers of the working and the broken binary to check if your working binary was built before or after that change.

Help-About Screenshots as requested. Note that the "After" Screenshot is from yesterdays nightly build, but I've had the very same "After" conditions over at least the last 4 nightly builds that I've installed.

Here's the "Before" the problem screenshot, The nightly of 5/29/15

Here's the "After" the problem screenshot, The nightly of 6/8/15

Thanks for looking at these, Torsten. I really appreciate your diligence in this matter, as the feature is going to be (already _is_) a wonderful addition to FlightGear, and will only get better with time. Hats off to you, sir!
