mmagnin as a thank you for sharing this, I put together a zip package with a minor correction ( the dialog folder is called dialogs) , and detailed instructions for installing this, most useful for windows users.

I have just shared it with Global Virtual Airline and expect to hear good reports with-in a couple of days.

I hope other people can find this as fun as I have.
Thanks again. -- Ray

did you open the menu>view>cockpit something and turn on the feature?

It seems this turning on is not archived and has to happen every load of sim in the current version of the feature.

Basically the menu/view/cockpit looks the same as the original one inspite of I have copied them in the correct order.

It sounds to me like a problem adding the required code to the preferences.xml
Preferences.xml would tie everything together, making the feature appear in the menu.

With these new codes on preference.xml they didn't, without them, they worked .

My experience in Level D simulations using both motion and vibration systems is that vision isn't actually affected anywhere near as much as what you see in a cockpit camera. You feel a lot through the seat but usually don't see anywhere near what you feel, so on a takeoff run it feels very uneven through the seat but the visuals are steady.

In the F-15 there is a rudimentary mapping of strut compression accelerations to an audio effect - which I think is the best you can achieve without a motion platform.

So in other words a pilot view should be less shaky than say some in-cockpit views that can be used when making videos or replays. I say some, as many in-cockpit videos on YouTube seem to use a camera (often a GoPro) mounted firmly to something in the cockpit.

One extremely shaky view on the other hand would probably be that classic hand-held view from the third seat behind the center console of an airliner.

What I am getting at is that different views probably could/would/should have different characteristics (this is in no way limited only to vibrations and could for example be sound as well).

Edit: Grammar
Low-level flying — It's all fun and games till someone looses an engine. (Paraphrased from a YouTube video)

I included a small installation manual in Italian in my FB blog:

https://www.facebook.com/flightgearitalia/?fref=nf

I found a very nice effect and allows for more realism, then the fact that you can turn a simple and logical menu item is great.

I would love it to be permanently installed in the FGFs development line, I propose to do so in the 2016.3 version so that anyone can use it, so who does not use it does not enable ... like so many other FGFs functions!
