New Vehicle Idea: Kite/Kite Buggy; discussion of cloth

Postby rico001 » Sat Dec 06, 2014 12:41 am

Was researching land sailing and trying to think up new fun renewable energy/human powered vehicles and came across this idea. They require flat surfaces such as sand or a parking lot. Didn't find info on them in the forums.

Ideas for a kite; maybe the person models we have could go into first person mode to control it.

Hmm. Though sailing has been mentioned a few years back, I do not think this has been mentioned before. It can be done, the question is as usually how. ;)

I've also brought up a wingsuit idea in a forum thread viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15483 that would also involve cloth. maybe someone could start with simulating a piece of printer paper in the wind, a flag, or a wind sock and go from there, I put in 'open source cloth simulator' and found some code and algorithms, in opengl [ex: opencloth; https://code.google.com/p/opencloth/]. I think a cloth simulator engine would need to be written, that behaves independently or even could interact with metal objects?

The code for the current hanglider wing, paraglider parachute and all people simulation clothes, such as for the skydiver, may need to be rewritten/expanded upon. Unless it is already?
peace.
