Any way to get current flight info?

Postby MasteroftheSKIES » Sat Aug 02, 2014 3:23 pm

I was thinking of developing an application similar to ACARS in FSX, and the question came to mind - is there any way to get the information of the current flight offline (heading, altitude, etc)? Just wondering.
I would use FSX but I use FlightGear because it's a project with goals.

Windows 7; Processor: 8 core 4 GHz; 8GB RAM; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (a pretty good graphics card if you're wondering)

sure, it's all in the property tree - and even on MP, all the info can be accessed using the telnet interface.
But a few other users (e.g. omega95) have already implemented their own FG "ACARS"

We use an integrated ACARS system at Merlion. (Nasal + Canvas + XML HTTP Requests)

Regarding the xml-httprequest fgcommand, see: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Making ... from_Nasal
Meanwhile, there are better/newer APIs available (native Nasal/cppbind): http://wiki.flightgear.org/List_of_Nasa ... 2.99.2B.29
