Virtual Camera?

Postby LukeaFG » Tue May 29, 2012 3:13 am

Hey, so I was wondering if it would be possible to get something like a 3Dvirtual camera in FligthGear, something like Ezdok. I would be more than willing to help, (thats not a problem) but I dont have a single clue on how to code or anything like that.... So say we are replaying the flight and you pressed v then it brings you to the virtual camera view and you could use your mouse to pan around and 'walk' around the plane(or something like that)....(some views are in this video)

As I said before I would be more than willing to help,

P.S. It would be a fantastic improvement for FG camera views

WOAH, i just watched this video yesterday and i thought the same thing. It looks amazing! indeed it would be nice if it could be in flightgear. Of course the possibilities with nasal are endless, but for someone to do it..

Couldn't you just use macros to do it?
and then if you wanted to record it? they already have fos desktop video recording software for that such as taksi or CamStudio ... This also IMHO can be tied in to cinematics for machinima... They already have some ai controls/scripting(?)
I also thought of an idea to create a aircraft that functions as a camera with the ability to record... Maybe adapt the UFO since it has interesting/unique features already

Note Perhaps also see: "cinematics in flightgear" post

Don't forget about "mibs", a derivative of the UFO, optimised for observing/filming...

But with me, that never seems to load, FG justs hangs on 'loading scenery' and gives nothing in the terminal.

try to add some altitude (like 1000 ft) on the command line, not sure if it helps, I had the same problem starting at some airports, works for some other airports.

My comment was aimed at Rico, who proposed to built a camera, based on the UFO aircraft. Mibs is just that.

It was fixed: http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-bug ... ail?id=683, but there's still an issue remaining: the AI/MP follow controls are not working. So instead of creating something from scratch, it would be nice if someone could take a look at mibs and fix it ;-)

Yes, basic controls worked. But the AI/MP follow/chase function didn't ;-)

Maybe someone/I could add a tutorial /description for it, and also put it in the newsletter?
