Feature request: fps

Postby VicMar » Sat Sep 03, 2011 10:59 am

Would it be possible for the fps numbers to be shown against a black background.

This would make them easier to find/see against a light background.

Cheers,
Vic

Easy to do (I think; the following is not tested!). Just set the upper <alpha> to 1 in gui/dialogs/fps.Xml, or to 0.5 for a semi translucent background. You can then change the color to whatever you like (you can also change the number's color there).

Thanks Gijs, I'll give that a try.

I have tried to alter just about everything in the fps.xml file but it renders exactly the same.

Is there another file I could try, or do you think not accepting my changes is caused by something else?

Cheers,
Vic

It seems to depend on where you downloaded your version 2.4.0 from. I have tried this on both Mac versions of 2.4.0.

If you downloaded it from the Mac OS X project page:
http://macflightgear.sourceforge.net/home/downloads/ It doesn't work.

If you downloaded your new version from the Official downloads page:
http://www.flightgear.org/download/ It does work.

a) I don't know why there are 2 different versions for Macs.
b) I have already reported a bug about not being able to transfer files from older versions into 2.4.0, neither can I place a new model in an existing category folder. This means I cannot use 2.4.0 to place new models.

Hi Vic,

The FlightGear page just links to the source forge download so they should be exactly the same.

Hi Curt,

They are definitely different. Please see Bug report 425.

Cheers,
Vic

Sorry 425 is not relevant. Both versions are affected by it.

A difference which shows up easily is the Anti-Aliasing settings/

In the official downloads version, there is a sliding scale for AA.

In the Mac OS X version, there is just On/Off.

Just to explain the 2 versions thing:

I downloaded from the OS X page 2.4.0.RC1

RC1 is obsolete, Vic. Get rid of it.
