Layout is not that correct, but regenerating the airport would mean rebuilding of the whole Tallinn, which would consequently bring necessity for adjustments of altitudes of all circa 600 objects in Tallinn area, and the source of a precise layout would need some looking into, since the current terrain was hand-drawn, and all the shapefiles died together with my HDD some years ago. So it's not the question of a nearest time.

Hopefully coming soon.

A little more trainspotting.
Ülemiste railway station. City centre in background. View from the pedestrian bridge (Jeep's default walker's point of view).
Image
One train leaves, another arrives....
ER-2 EMU is a little anachronistic here, since all the passenger trains used in Estonia (except for 2 international lines) are Stadler FLIRT EMUs ans DMUs (paint scheme of the one modelled is not just that, but that will with some luck be changed in a while). However, I am not removing them for somewhat sentimental purposes (these trains have serviced regional traffic of Tallinn for 30 years, they deserve some place under FG skies). If you prefer totally realistic approach, feel free to remove these (in 3351899.stg pathways containing "/er2/").

The pedestrian bridge at the station has been demolished shortly after I released the scenery, but if my scenery does not correspond to the real life, it's the real life's problem :P . After all, with the bridge the station looks better in FG than without.

very nice!
are those train models GPL ?
I'd like to use the red one for the official (terrasync) scenery.

Thanks!
Fine with me, but it weighs slightly over 2 MB, and if you would like a repaint it might need AC file editing since I didn't apply a hull texture. If it's all OK, feel free to use.

Note that it is a DMU version. EMU should come in some shot time (though the only difference is a pantograph instead of a generator car).

The link has been updated (it was not functional for some time). If the file goes missing again, please report here. I will try to find another place to store it.
The link once again: https://www.suhtlus.ee/sharefile.php?shareid=eb420bde-628c-485d-a637-3c6f5525f72d
When you have clicked the link, check the checkbox at "Scenery_North_Baltics.zip" on the page which has been opened and press "Laadi alla" (which means Download in Estonian) button above.
In case of any difficulty, write here, I will try to respond as soon as possible.

So, it has been 5 years since the topic has been created. 5 years since Estonia has started being developed in FG. 5 years since the first settlers have landed on these shores and built the first shacks made of driftwood and ships' remains (Viru hotel, if I remember correctly, was the first object to be modelled). Then the proper harbour has been constructed (Tallinn Airport was one of the first buildings as well). As the civilization grew, the terraforming began (the terrainworks commenced about a year after the city development started). Not only have the people focused on building Tallinn a city of their dreams, they started to expand to the new lands, fighting local tribes and founding new towns (Tartu has seen some development, Pärnu and other Estonian airports got at least something. Ruhnu was populated and created to be quite a nice island to spend your weekend, with the terrainwork being made by henrikp). Even the shores of the nearby countries have been colonized (Turku and St.Petersburg still have some of my buildings). The Civilization expanded, some objects grew, other were rebuilt or even demolished. Some have been preserved as a cultural heritage, even disappearing from existence in a parallel universe called "The Real Life". So after 5 years this is what we have:

Over 600 objects in Tallinn & suburbs (Maardu). Of them about 60-80 unique (cannot be sure here, this number is quite estimate).
About 70 objects in Tartu.

Major Estonian Airports (Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, Kuressaare, Kärdla) and Ruhnu airport have got some furnishing.
Tartu Raadi airport (EETR) and Ruhnu Airfield (EERU) have been created.

Tallinn, Tartu, Ruhnu have got a nice driveable roadnet which can be used by any means of transportation (incl. jeeps, bikes or possibly even horses).

Overall, I think Estonia has become a little better place to fly, drive or sail in FlightGear than it has been before.

So here I should express my gratitude to those who participated in construction, those, who helped with ideas, and of course all those who have tried it and visited this remote but still nice part of Europe.

And I say, Welcome!

And here is a small before-after. A little nostalgia can be felt, as one recalls these dark nights on the pretty empty ground as well.
The "before" part was shot using the original non-modified older version of terrain (from the times of FG 1.9.1 when I came to FG).

Thank you! ;)

primtala2 - it is EERU - Ruhnu Airport. However, it is not found by FG since apt.dat files don't have it. henrikp had a proper file somewhere, but it has its issues. You may look for it in the topic somewhere. Or you may just start at coordinates 57.7842 23.2656. This should bring you to the parking lot near the runway. Keep in mind that it is a small grass airfield, so an appropriate aircraft is suggested.

alral, your work seems beautiful, one technical question,

On the main terminal, are you using an emissive material or light maps, I guess the former unless your using Rembrandt.

Nice! Thanks guys for the hard work! Looking nice :-)

For those interested in navigation, don't forget the Estonian AIP: https://aim.eans.ee, the VFR information guide and the full VFR navigation chart as a PDF (warning, fairly heavy file!).

Ruhnu is near the bottom of the chart, on the Gulf of Riga, where the Tallinn FIR meets with the Riga FIR boundary and does a loop south around the island.

Aerodrome chart: http://eaip.eans.ee/2015-08-20/graphics ... 072015.pdf
Visual Approach chart: http://eaip.eans.ee/2015-08-20/graphics ... 052015.pdf
Landing chart: http://eaip.eans.ee/2015-08-20/graphics ... 032014.pdf

Take the new C172p or Cessna337 for an island hop? :-)
