Heads up about the animated jetways

Let's make one thing clear: the 2.0.0 pack I released will not be supported in the future and is just a proof-of-concept. Do NOT add any airports using the pack. Please use the new system in Git, and soon to be available in the upcoming release candidates.

@Boeing, I don't know.

I get the same error message ("cannot connect...").

As I see it, the jetway-movable.xml is requesting nodes which are not defined in the 777 files.
In the tutorial You are told to build the nodes /sim/model/door[x]/position-x-m and so on,
jetway-movable.xml is checking nodes like /aircraft/door[x]/position-x-m and for older versions
/aircraft/jetway-pos/x-tra.

The script part of jetway-movable.xml is 178 lines long. I have not read everything.
I think, the tutorial and downloadable files (as 777-git-jetway-support.tar.gz) have got to be updated.

I try to find out more.

O.K., I have found out some things now... :
The code of jetway-movable.xml and the versions -2 and -3 (for two and three doored jetways) have at least one bug:

The check for "jetway-hood-deg" is done in "/aircraft" rather than "/aircraft/door[x]/"
It took me some time, to find that one out.

On the way I wondered, if there is also a problem with brackets. I do not know how it is with NASAL, but in all programming languages I know the keyword "AND" is superior to any other operator. (I filled in some brackets before I found the missing "door[x]" branch. So I don´t know if that was part of the problem.)
That means:
(1 < 3 AND 1) is FALSE while ((1 < 3) AND 1) is TRUE.

And if You have got that all working, the jetways will do what they want!
I am not sure, that the computings in jetway-movable.xml will lead to the wanted results.
If You use the values from the tutorial, they will not.
Maybe I did not get the hang about what coordinates I have to enter into the "/aircraft" node. (By the way: they are called "/x-m" and so on and NOT "position-x-m" as You are told in the tutorial... but that is a minor problem.)

I read the hole code by now, but with the mathematical functions in it, I will have to check some more things.
There are some obvious algebraic errors. But that´s GEOMETRY for You :-)

Till then,
clint

I have got them docking now!

I had to do a few recreations in the XML files.

If You Want to know more, here are two files:
http://www.gwyntaigh.de/fg/FlightGearJetwayNames.pdf
http://www.gwyntaigh.de/fg/TheThingyWithMoveableJetways.pdf

I will try to correspond the found bugs to the appropriate persons.

So long,
Clint

Hey guys,

I've had the same problem as Boeing. EHAM, the most densely packed AI airport in FG, has no aircraft at all! The animated jetways work fine but I have no company.
I mean I'm the only one at the airport. Curiously though, this only happens at EHAM.

Thanks,
aviationR

Then perhaps make a different topic? This is about "THE ANIMATED JETWAY PROJECT" not "EHAM AI DISAPPEARANCE."

@aviationR, what FG version are you using, and where did you download the jetway files?

Perhaps you can get out of MY topic and let ME decide where the posts in MY topic should go.

Hi Skyop,

I downloaded the files from here: http://theomegahangar.yolasite.com/airports.php and I'm running FG 2.0
If you are wondering why I don't use 2.4 check out this post: http://flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13593

Thanks,
aviationR
P.S. Who were you referring to when you said,

*shrug* I'm honestly not sure what is going on. The best advice I can offer you is to upgrade to 2.4.0. :|

Note that The Omega Hangar airports' animated jetways are not compatible with the finished animated jetway system included in FG 2.4.0.

That's an old thread, and an old response.
Meanwhile, 2.6.0 is out already.
