The place you appear at is flattish and has about the right steepness (should be 12%), so the chance the coordinates in apt.dat.gz may easily be correct. Just moving the runway to the coordinates listed in apt.dat.gz would probably be the right thing.

Not that easy unfortunately, you need to rebuild the scenery tile after making any changes in apt.dat which is a pain in the [insert really bad things here].

Not sure if you mean its a pain in the ***, or to insert things in the ***.

Could someone have a look at YSSY, most of it looks close to the googlemaps layer, but around the international and domestic terminals it is not so accurate.

This link shows what I mean around the international terminal

Regarding VNLK (Lukla), this is an issue that is related to TerraGear, which uses algorithms to cut holes into the scenery for placing airports/runways, in mountainous terrain this may easily look plain wrong.

One could try to improve the appearance by using higher resolution data (such as SRTM) for airports that are situated in the this sort of terrain, that should at least improve the appearance somewhat. I am not really familiar with the TerraGear code, but SRTM data is freely available - so anybody who is really interested in working on VNLK could give this approach easily a try.

PS: I have added a new page to the wiki for maintaining all airport requests, please add your own requests and projects: http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Airport_requests
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit
Thanks & all the best,

Request LETO update

Postby biz » Sun Mar 13, 2011 1:26 am

Hi guys! I'm doing LETO with stock, custom buildings and signs. The layout is incomplete, there are taxi and holdout sections missing. Here is the chart: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7530755/LETO/LETO.pdf,I think may help for the layout if some one is up for it. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this page is still used (if not, I'll create a new topic for this), but I'd like to request an airport (layout only) update for Spangdahlem Air Base (ETAD), Germany.
I know that the classic answer is: "What about if you do it by yourself?".
Well, my answer would be that I'm currently developing something like 10 airports between 2D and 3D and I can't afford a new one to build from scratch (ETAD has only got the very basic layout: runway+a taxiway).
So, can someone take a look at it and do something?
It needs only the 2D part (layout, signs, parking pos., etc.), the 3D I'll do it by my self when I'll have some time  .

Ok thanks, I'll edit some parts and then it'll be ok for a custom download version.

YBCG (Gold Coast International Airport) needs a complete rework of the taxi ways.
No buildings yet.

Stow Maries

I've been wanting to figure out a way to work this museum and aerodrome into the UK scenery. But my attempts to change the regional material CropGrass material tile calls for the chunk it sits on changes every other CropGrass to GreenSpace too. So you end up with about a tenth by tenth degree worth of little airfields surrounding it. Is there any way to make the selection of a particular regional material smaller than a tenth of a degree?

It's been listed since 2013 as an airfield but isn't licensed yet, which I assume means it will not get into FlightGear for a while..

http://ukga.com/airfield/stow-maries

Could I make a request somewhere for it's inclusion?

Would love to see Tulsa International (KTUL). I've mapped this out in pretty good detail in OpenStreetMap already.

Hi everyone,
I'm a relatively new to FG; I'm from Belize and I would love to contribute my time to the FG project. Currently looking for how to add airports to FG and even edit existing ones with their taxiways and parking areas. I'd even like to add models and objects but I think I need some help finding tutorials and resources to learn to do these type of stuff.

Edit: I came across this article https://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Make_an_airport

@elangelitobeliz: That's a goo starting point ! See the bottom of that wiki page - there usually is a list of related pages. Also, If you have a specific problem with making airports, feel free to post a new thread in the Development -> Scenery forum or PM me ! :)
