For how many tiles, and which area ? Would be interesting for me, since the whole of Papua is almost done now for me after perhaps 4 hours of tg-construct running, and it's a huge area (24 by 11.5 degrees, almost 18000 tiles) … I'm starting to suspect that something's wrong with my shapefiles, it never was so fast before … (in areas with good OSM coverage it usually takes 10 to 20 minutes for one tile, if I include all the rivers, streams, roads …) …I'm just hoping that it's simply because Papua isn't well mapped in OSM … :|

I’m doing the whole uk and Ireland as I got the newer apt. dat file from plane to update all airports as I was fed up with so much being out of date or not having taxi signs etc.. I’ll let you know how long it takes. I’m expecting a whole lot more time due to the complexity of the areas and the speed of my pc. I would guess Papa will not have so many different types of areas and a lot of sea so that might be the reason for the speed as you suggested.

Why?
If it is only CPU, give it a lesser priority:
$ nice +18 <TerraGear cmd>
or, with TG already running:
$ renice -n +18 <pid of TG process>

Why use my laptop instead? Because it has a much more modern CPU than my ancient Phenom 956 :lol: I do not use the laptop much so it can sit happily processing even faster than the main gaming PC and I can free up my main PC for flying :-)

The build finished after 35 hours but I made one mistake so now I will do it on the laptop and see how much faster it will be.

Ah, I see.
Initially I though that TG interfered with normal FG use.
But in that case, give that laptop a purpose in life :)

Well, it does - you'll have lower frame rates in FG, but that's it.
