Apron lights

Postby dom_vc10 » Fri Jul 01, 2022 3:18 pm

Hi

I have been searching for some nice light cones that can shine on the ground so I can use them as apron lighting. After a lot of searching it seems none really exist. Does anyone know of a nice light cone that can be used for this maybe I have missed it in my search?

When I was searching for one I couldn't find one that hasn't lighting issues (for example by using a cone geometry to simulate the light cone) but you could make one yourself with Compositor lights which look much better.

Yeah I tried a few from the models I could find. Off to read about compositor lighting now :D

You may want to use the combined ALS and compositor lights here.

If, in the future, the shaders for lighting changes to, for example, include a visible light cone under foggy conditions we just have to alter one effect instead of all related scenery models.

Ah yes, that's definitely better to use the generic model, Thanks for the link erik ! :)

I'm assuming I can use a model or models that already exist and then make the xml to using the methods as described. Not much time currently to play with this but if I'm successful I will for sure share any creation(s). Nighttime apron lighting is currently not so great looking anywhere in FG land :-)
