HGT file editor

Postby SurferTim » Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:04 am

I have developed a primitive python/Qt/Silx program to edit hgt files. It requires
Python
Qt
Silx http://www.silx.org

Here is the primitive code.
http://www.prolectron.com/flightgear/HGTEditor.tar.gz

My initial goals would be to eliminate the need for Silx toolkit, display the decimal fraction of degrees instead of 0-1200, then a "file open" and "file save" function.

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Sounds interesting. I will take a look at this over the weekend.

Let me know what you think. Most airports do not require this, just small airports that have an unusual runway gradient, like St Barth and a few other islands in the Caribbean.

If you have trouble with it, and need a runway bulldozed, I can do that.

Many thanks. I will give it a go, perhaps not this weekend, but ASAP. I have a couple of airfields where sections of the runway are at the bottom of what looks like a railway cutting.

That is what it eliminates. It also allows you to grade a custom slope. Requires a --max-slope value when building the scenery.
